Mr Brian Jamieson

Mr Brian Jamieson retired as a VESKI Board Director on November 24, 2008 having served for two terms and has accepted an ambassadorial role as a VESKI Fellow.

Brian Jamieson is a consultant and former partner of Minter Ellison, Melbourne.  Prior to joining the international law firm, Brian was with KPMG and its antecedent firms for over twenty years.  Brian was Managing Partner of Touche Ross & Co Australia until its merger with KPMG Peat Marwick. 

During his time with KPMG, Brian held the positions of Chairman (Victoria), Managing Partner (Melbourne), and Chief Executive Officer of KPMG Australia. Brian was also a Board member of the KPMG Board in Australia, its Asia Pacific Board, and a member of the USA Management Committee.

Brian's practice management skills included strategic planning, change management, profitability improvement and team building, and audit of and advice to public companies with particular emphasis on the manufacturing, entertainment and financial services sectors.  He was heavily involved in the monitoring of overseas developments in accounting and auditing.

In 1989, Brian negotiated a potential merger of Touche Ross and Deloittes in Australia and subsequently completed the merger negotiations with KPMG Peat Marwick in 1990.

In 1996, he completed a financial merger between the Melbourne and Adelaide offices of KPMG to form KPMG Southern Region and finalised a merger of all Australian state capital offices of KPMG to form the first national financially integrated firm of KPMG Australia from 1 July 1998.  He was appointed the first Chief Executive Officer of the new national firm of KPMG.  He played a significant role in preparing KPMG Australia to financially integrate with KPMG Americas as the first stage of a total integration of KPMG International.

Brian is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a member of The Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a Trustee for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.  

Brian is also a Non- Executive Director of Sigma Company Limited and Oxiana Limited, a Director and Treasurer of Care Australia, and a  Director and Treasurer of The Bionic Ear Institute.
