VESKI Supports Monash University Design Initiative

Research Development Program by Kieran Timberlake

VESKI has awarded a submission received from Monash University to support a Research Development Program by Kieran Timberlake.

Stephen Kieran - Principle of Kieran Timberlake is an American award-winning and internationally published architecture firm noted for its research, innovative design and planning services.  In particular their approach to low energy, low environmental impact buildings of all types and sizes and how they interweave sustainable design systems will feature heavily across the program.

The visit to Melbourne by Stephen Kieran will stimulate the sharing knowledge through a number of activities to engage with organisations and businesses in Victoria.  These include presenting public lectures and leading an intensive workshop with government organisations and industry representatives around developing innovation in housing design and delivery.  In addition the architect will attend working sessions with research staff at Monash Architecture and will become part of and extend the important international network that Monash Architecture will be developing.  Currently Monash Architecture has linkages with MIT and the visit by Stephen Kieran will extend this network to their practice and to the University of Philadelphia where both Stephen Kieran and James Timberlake are members of faculty.

Stephen Kieran's visit will build on and extend Monash Architecture's existing creative links with business, government and practice through public lectures and a focussed workshop on innovation housing design. In addition he will deliver a public lecture in a central Melbourne venue that will be advertised to the general community.
