Program in 2020 Criteria

The veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program is a leadership program that supports women wanting to progress or extend into leadership positions within a STEM industry.  The program is led by veski with the support of the British Consulate General Melbourne.

Evaluation

Applications to join the mid-career emerging leaders program are sought from women who are looking to further advance into leadership positions in Australia within academia, industry, government, or not-for-profit STEM sectors and who:

  • - are passionate about advocating for diversity in STEM;
  • - want to directly impact cultural change within their organisations / institutions;
  • - are seeking to further develop their leadership skills; and
  • - want to build confidence to take the next step in their career.

 

Process

The call for applications is now closed.

Upon the completion of the eligibility checks, eligible applications will be made available to the Selection Panel members for consideration.

It is anticipated that Applicants for the veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program in 2020 will be informed of the outcome of their submission no later than 17 July 2020.

The veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside Selection Panel will, in its absolute discretion, competitively select applicants for the leadership program in 2020 on the basis of the key criteria. The recommendations of the Selection Panel, endorsed by the veski board of directors, are final and challenges will not be considered.

 

What successful applicants can expect

As a competitively selected participant, you can expect: 

  • - a dynamic program of workshops, masterclasses and networking opportunities - designed to provide you with the skills, networks and mindset to help achieve your career goals;
  • - access to qualified facilitators and panellists who are leaders in their fields to share frameworks and strategies to assist you to become an effective leader; and
  • - networking with key stakeholders across academia, industry, government and not-for-profits willing to share their expertise and insights of leadership.

 

Working within the constraints and safety instruments as per the Roadmap for a COVIDSafe Australia (Steps 1- 3) over the coming weeks and months, and supporting all measures including physical distancing and social gathering restrictions (as rolled out by the Victorian Government) we will work closely with our program, venue and event partners and workshop facilitators on how best to schedule and deliver the veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program in 2020 within COVIDSafe Plans for workplaces and premises.

All successful applicants are required to attend all program event activities.

 

Scholarships

In 2020, veski offered financial assistance to participate in the veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program via one or more scholarships.

Regionally based, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander women or other worthy mid-career emerging female leaders (as determined by the review panel) were considered for a financial scholarship to support their participation in the program.

The scholarship can provide financial assistance to either join the program and/or assist with travel & accommodation costs.

It is anticipated that successful scholarship recipients will be advised of the outcome of their application by the end of June 2020.
