Are You One Of Victoria’s Up-And-Coming Female Leaders?
25 May
The Andrews Labor Government is recognising the legacy of the late Joan Kirner AC, with applications opening today for the new Joan Kirner Young and Emerging Women Leaders program.
Minister for Women and for the Prevention of Family Violence, Fiona Richardson, has called on young Victorian women to apply for this opportunity to progress as influential leaders in their communities, sectors and areas of interest.
As Victoria’s first and only female premier, Joan’s legacy is characterised by her commitment to promoting women and reforming education.
In partnership with Leadership Victoria, the Joan Kirner Young and Emerging Women Leaders program will award scholarships to 25 of Victoria’s outstanding young and rising female leaders.
Recipients will have access to a comprehensive program including formal training, peer learning and mentoring opportunities, enabling them to develop the critical skills, networks and experiences they need to advance their leadership careers.
Young women are invited to apply for the program, which incorporates six key areas reflective of Joan’s passions:
- education
- environment
- women’s health
- western suburbs of Melbourne
- supporting Aboriginal women’s leadership.
- supporting culturally diverse leaders
Safe and Strong — A Victorian Gender Equality Strategy identifies the new Joan Kirner Young and Emerging Women Leaders program as an early action to support the development of emerging women leaders in Victoria.
