Madeleine McManus OAM

The Director of Industry Engagement for the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of IT at Monash University, Madeleine McManus has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to Engineering, and to Education. The award was announced by Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove at the Queen’s Birthday Honours on the 12 June 2017.

Madeleine is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and the first female Chairman of Engineers Australia (Victoria).

 

She serves on a number of industry and community boards, including the Victorian Advanced Manufacturing Advisory Council, Member National Advisory Board Women in Science and Chairman of the Victorian Branch, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. She has spent a number of years in the commercial and project engineering environment working in industries such as chemical, industrial, and oil and gas both in Australia and overseas.

She assists organisations wishing to engage with Monash University, including the Monash Industry Partnership Program and the Monash Industry Team Initiative (MITI). As a member of the Joint Bushfire Response Taskforce, she was actively involved in the rebuild of bushfire-affected areas in 2009.

Madeleine is passionate about working with engineers of the future, raising the profile of engineers in the wider community and ensuring the long-term success of the profession.

She holds a double degree in Engineering and Commerce from Monash University and was a finalist in the Public Sector and Academia Award and Telstra Victorian Business Women’s Awards in 2016.
