BioEYES Professional Development Program
In conjunction with Monash University, veski hosted a professional development workshop for science teachers that introduced the BioEYES program - an engaging program for students to learn life science through a hands on, student centred approach.
The workshop was held at Monash University on Wednesday 23 July 2014 and was designed to give teachers a deeper understanding of the program as well as instill confidence in hosting it at their respective schools, which will take place at Neerim District, Kyneton and Mooroopna Secondary Colleges between August and October 2014. The workshop provided teachers with the opportunity to have hands-on experience with live zebra fish alongside Dr Sharon Flecknoe, Early Year Bioscience Coordinator at Monash University, and Ms Laura Reid who is the BioEYES outreach coordinator faciliating the program at our regional schools.
Professor Peter Currie and Dr James Godwin of the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) gave inspiring presentations about their zebra fish and axolotl research respectively. Members of the veski connection were invited to attend the session as part of their professional development and interest in veski's inspring students (& teachers) program.
