veski chief executive officer returns from first all-women trade mission to China
veski chief executive officer Ms Julia L Page, having been selected to participate in Victoria’s first all-women trade mission to China, led by Minister for Women, the Hon. Natalie Hutchins MP, joined a small group of international women in trade from Victoria for a series of site visits, networking events and business meetings in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong in April 2018.
On behalf of veski, Julia fine tuned her skills and knowledge of the Asian marketplace to help veski become more competitive in delivering its services. The trade mission provided new knowledge to help the various industries veski works with in Victoria including health and medical research, agriculture and education.
During the mission, Julia had the opportunity to spend time with the other international women in trade who are members of the delegation to gain a better understanding of their business sectors within Victoria and potential engagement opportunities with China.
The mission will help towards veski developing its pipeline for its talent acquisition program including finding potential applicants for the veski sustainable agriculture fellowships, and the veski innovation fellowship program, bringing talent to Victorian institutions and for industry partnerships.
While veski has a well-established network across Europe and America, this trade mission has provided a unique opportunity to raise awareness of veski among potential Chinese collaborators.
Julia used the first all-women trade mission to China to showcase veski’s inspiring women program and share insights with senior representatives of China’s academic and business communities.
Alongside the Minister, Julia boosted relationships with Chinese partners and veski’s connected community. This global network of industry leaders, researchers and innovators is a key asset for Victoria used to find support for potential industry/academic collaborations and provide mentoring and education for young professionals and innovators.
The trade mission also provided an opportunity to engage Chinese universities and industry collaborators. These include potential industry and academic hosts for veski programs and senior leaders within companies who may benefit from Victorian innovations, products and services.
The first all-women trade mission to China was arranged by Trade Victoria.
