2019 - Leading the Way: Mid-career emerging leaders

The Leading the Way: Mid-career emerging leaders program is designed to support women wanting to progress or extend into leadership positions within a STEM industry. The program will help develop networks across Universitites, Research Centres, Industry and Government with the aim to equip participants with the skills, networks and mindset to identify and achieve their chose career goals, addressing the retention of women into leadership roles within STEM industries.

Eligibility

Applications to join the Leading the way: Mid-career emerging leaders stream are sought from mid-career women who are considering the move or extension into leadership positions in Australia within academia, industry or government STEM sectors.
The STEM sidebyside program is open to women in the fields of science and innovative technology, primarily in the areas of:

- science
- technology
- engineering
- mathematics

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

- have at least 10 years of Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) post-primary degree experience in STEM fields; and

- ensure a financial co-contribution of $975 is provided by your employer should your application be successful.

 

Application requirements

Complete a full application demonstrating:

- why you wish to join the Leading the Way: Mid-career emerging leaders stream of the STEM sidebyside program;
- how you will use the skills, experience and networks that you have garnered moving forward;
- demonstrate your success as a leader or potential as a future leader for women in STEM, including your ability to enhance cultural change as a promoter, supporter and mentor in STEM across Australia.

Supporting documents

-  Provide a current curriculum vitae demonstrating the nature of your achievements, to include the duration and FTE of each role held post-primary degree in STEM sectors; and
-  provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Managers at your employer must support your application for the STEM sidebyside program and agree to provide the employer financialco-contribution, to been incurred in the event of a successful application.

Successful applicants will be required to attend all program event activities to be scheduled throughout the year and to be held in Melbourne.  Travel costs to attend program events must be covered by the participant.
