Fresh Science is a national competition helping early-career researchers find, and then share, their stories of discovery.
The 2017 round of nominations and applications for the Academy's awards and grants is now open. The Academy’s honorific awards are open to senior scientists as well as mid- and early-career researchers across a range of disciplines in the physical and biological sciences.

Young Tall Poppy Science Awards - closed 11 April
The prestigious annual Young Tall Poppy Science Awards aim to recognise the achievements of Australia’s outstanding young scientific researchers and communicators.
Nominations are generally called early in the year for two months prior to the selection process. Selection criteria include outstanding research / academic achievement as well as excellence in communication and community engagement to promote an understanding of science.
Over 300 Young Tall Poppy Science Awards had been made around Australia and Awards programs are currently in place in every Australian state and territory.
Metcalf Prizes for Stem Cell Research - closed 30 March
Each year, the National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia awards and celebrates two exceptional mid-career stem cell researchers with the Metcalf Prizes for Stem Cell Research. The prizes support the National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia’s mission to promote the study and use of stem cells in the prevention or control of disease in human beings and to enhance stem cell public education.
The 10th annual L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Australia Fellowships and L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science New Zealand Fellowship recognise four remarkable early-career female scientists, each at the cutting edge of research. Four $25,000, one-year fellowships for early-career women in science.
