Dr Nolene Byrne is a Senior Lecturer at Deakin University with a joint position within the School of Engineering and the Institute for Frontier Materials. Dr Byrne's research interest center around understanding process/structure/property relationships in polymers. Dr Byrne leads the polymer research theme within the Energy Pipelines CRC and is CI in the ARC Research Hub for Future Fibres.

Current projects include, converting waste into value added products, textile recycling and regeneration, renewable functional materials, modelling plastic pipe lifetime and understanding degradation. Current teaching responsibilities 1st year materials engineering and 3rd year manufacturing.

The inspiring women STEM sidebyside program is an initiative to support women in the STEM industries that is led by veski and Monash University with the support of the British Consulate General Melbourne. This dynamic program is designed to empower women at different career stages with the skills, networks and mindset to develop and achieve their career goals within STEM industries.
