Dr Sarah Dunstan
Leading the Way participant
Senior Research Fellow
The University of Melbourne
Dr Sarah Dunstan is a Senior Research Fellow. Sarah uses genomics to understand the host-pathogen interaction in globally important infectious diseases. She completed her PhD at The University of Melbourne in 1998, then a postdoctoral fellowship at Imperial College, London.
In 2001, Sarah joined Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, Vietnam and developed a program of research on enteric fever, tuberculosis and malaria. In 2013, Sarah returned to The University of Melbourne and has expanded her human genomics research to include pathogen genomics. For the Doherty Institute, Sarah is implementing a strategy to facilitate multi-disciplinary clinical research to enhance its impact.

About the program
The inspiring women STEM sidebyside program is an initiative to support women in the STEM industries that is led by veski and Monash University with the support of the British Consulate General Melbourne. This dynamic program is designed to empower women at different career stages with the skills, networks and mindset to develop and achieve their career goals within STEM industries.
