Welcome Event – 2019 veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program

On Thursday, 30 May 2019 veski & Monash University, with the support from the British Consulate General Melbourne welcomed the competitively selected 2019 veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside Leading the Way and Stamina stream participants to the program.

The Welcome Event, hosted by Telstra in their Customer Insight Centre, was an opportunity for the Leading the Way and Stamina stream participants to get inspired and excited as they embarked on their professional developing and networking journeys.

The evening comprised of an inspirational keynote by Ms Laura Anderson, Chair, SVI Global, who reiterated the importance of opting in, asking ‘why not’, and building your network.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The participants also had the opportunity to hear from Telstra’s very own trailblazer Ms Gretchen Cooke, who reminded the participants to back themselves, be resilient and learn how to read a financial statement!

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Tich-Lam Nguyen shared her experience as a 2018 Leading the Way participant – providing the 2019 cohort with tips, advice and learnings that enabled her to gain the courage to say ‘yes’ to opportunities she would have otherwise shied away from.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The event was also an opportunity for the participants to get acquainted with each other, be introduced to the 2019 workshop and masterclass facilitators, and learn about what was in store for the forthcoming sessions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside founding partners also used the evening to acknowledge the generous support provided by all the venue and event partners to help us deliver the 2019 program.

This dynamic program is designed to empower women at different career stages with the skills, networks and mindset to develop and achieve their career goals within STEM industries.
