Transition back to work after a career break
27 June
On Monday, 3 June 2019 the veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside Stamina stream came together at Ernst & Young for the first part of their first session on Transition back to work after a career break with Susan Carter, Digital Conceptual Consulting.
The participants were required to complete a pre-session survey which helped establish a group baseline of attitudes and feelings towards their return to work transition and to establish areas of personal growth.

This allowed Sue to forge a path to support and help the participants recognize what they value - time management, flexibility, creativity, team, health, salary, etc. – against the types of careers they see in their future and to help them identify the skill-set they didn’t know they had.

At the second part of their session, hosted by the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute on 13 June 2019, the participants were forced to challenge their concept of a traditional job – to understand what is the best type of work for them based on their values, manage themselves and their career breaks, and their role as a women in STEM.

The final session of this dedicated 3-part session was held on Monday, 24 June at Ernst & Young. This session’s main focus was for the participants to develop their personal business model, which will help them not only remember why they started their STEM sidebyside journey but also to help them keep the momentum going.
