In December 2010, the veski board appointed Professor Andrew Holmes as a veski director making him the first veski innovation fellowship alumnus to serve on the veski board.

Professor Andrew Holmes is a Melbourne University Laureate Professor of Chemistry, CSIRO Fellow and Distinguished Research Fellow (Imperial College, London). Professor Holmes was awarded the inaugural veski innovation fellowship and took up his position at the Bio21 Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Institute in late 2004.

Professor Holmes has already made a valuable contribution to the veski board providing the perspective of current and prospective veski innovation fellows. Professor Holmes is currently on a leave of absence from the board having recently accepted the Oxford University Newton Abraham Visiting Professorship, which he is undertaking until March 2012.

In June 2011, the veski board farewelled Professor Christina Mitchell who has taken up the role as Dean of Medicine at Monash University.

Professor Christina Mitchell was appointed the Dean of Medicine at Monash University from September 2011. She joined the veski board of directors in November 2007 and served as both a director and active member of the Science Selection Committee.

Previously she was Head of School of Biomedical Sciences at Monash University from 2006 and trained as a physician scientist specialising in clinical haematology.

The Board has welcomed Professor Ian Smith from Monash University as a veski director. Professor Smith has already made an important contribution to the veski innovation fellowship selection committee.

Ian Smith is a Professorial Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at Monash University, the Director of the Monash Biomedical Proteomics Facility and Head of the Peptide Biology Laboratory.
