veski fellow joins national science tour

veski innovation fellow, Professor Michael Cowley FTSE is one of four Australian scientists about to embark on the National Tour during the 2011 National Science Week from 13 to 21 August.

The National Tour is pivotal to National Science Week celebrations. Running right through National Science Week, the Tour invites some of the brightest and best of the world’s scientists to tour the nation, sharing their expertise and spreading their enthusiasm for science.

The prominent science personalities visit a host of major and regional centres, making presentations, duelling in debates and engaging in interviews, all based on the scientists' areas of interest.

The four scientists speaking all around Australia for the National Tour are:

  • Professor Michael Cowley - Award winning physiologist tackling some of Australia's greatest medical challenges
  • Dr Fiona Wood - Groundbreaking medical researcher and Australian of the Year
  • Dr Catrin Goebel - Chemist working on keeping elite sporting competition clean Hanson Robotics
  • Dr David Hanson leads an innovative start-up company bringing robots to life

Professor Cowley became a veski innovation fellow in 2008 and is an internationally recognised physiologist leading the way in unravelling some of Australia’s greatest medical challenges.

The National Tour will be visiting major cities and regional locations in each state.
