Outgoing Chair, Professor Alan Trounson will leave the veski board at the end of December 2007 to take up a permanent position as the President of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine in the US.
As a founding veski board director and chair since August 2007, Professor Trounson has been actively involved in driving the development of the veski innovation fellowship program as well as advancing his ground breaking work in stem cell research.
Professor Trounson has agreed to join an eminent group of scholars in an ambassadorial role as a veski fellow along with our previous Chair, Professor Adrienne Clarke AC and founding Director, Professor Peter Doherty AC.
On looking back on the work of veski, Professor Trounson says “our veski fellows have done us proud.”
“veski is an impressive gathering of who’s who in world innovation and it will continue to identify talented individuals who will have a major impact on the prosperity and health of the Victorian community,” says Professor Trounson.
“The performance of our veski innovation fellows to date has been absolutely phenomenal and a credit to veski for identifying such high quality, innovative people.”
“I hope our influence may also significantly extend to California in the future.”
Professor Trounson offered his best wishes to the incoming Chair, Professor Snow Barlow and the veski board.
“I know our contact will be ongoing.”
On 15 August 2007, Professor Adrienne Clarke AC resigned as Chair and a Director of veski to take up the role of Chief Scientist of a new biotechnology company.
veski wishes to acknowledge Professor Clarke’s contribution to veski as Chairman of the past four years and wishes her well in her future endeavours. Professor Clarke has accepted an ambassadorial role as a veski fellow.
We also gratefully acknowledge the contribution of retiring Board Director, Professor Peter Doherty AC. As an inaugural veski board member he has played a vital role in developing and expanding our work. Professor Doherty has also accepted an ambassadorial role as a veski fellow.
