A global innovation community with its heart in Australia
On Friday, 10 May 2019 at a gathering of veski family members and special guests including the Hon Jane Garrett MP and Mr Frank McGuire, Parliamentary Secretary for Jobs and Medical Research respectively, veski celebrated 15years of inspiring innovation at the Investment Centre, Victoria.
Over the past 15 years, veski has been leading efforts to develop a truly global innovation community with the potential to help solve some of society’s biggest issues in Australia.
veski continues to attract globally competitive researchers and innovators, engage global innovation communities, and build knowledge and capacity through skills, training and education - veski has developed a solid reputation for fostering innovation.
“Congratulations to veski on 15 successful years promoting scientific innovation and diversity in Victoria, and I encourage all Victorian scientists to apply for the generous prizes and fellowship programs on offer each year.” Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade, Hon Martin Pakula MP.
On the night, veski also recognized the tireless efforts of Mr Greg Sword AM - as the only veski founding director still serving on the veski board today.
veski MD & chief executive Julia L Page said: “Greg’s leadership and support of innovation to grow jobs and the Victorian economy has always been forefront in his role at veski."
veski’s impact over the past 15 years include:
- Delivery of talent attraction programs resulting in the awarding of more than 37 veski fellows to continue their ground breaking research in Victoria
- Introduction of a number of world-first leadership programs for women in STEM including the successful veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program
- Support for the next generation of innovators through a series of inspiring students and teachers activities
“We are proud of the community of world leading innovators who are part of our veski connected community and are excited by the potential for the next 15 years to unlock their knowledge and ideas to make an even greater contribution to Australia and the world’s growth.” veski MD & chief executive Julia L Page.
veski is poised to help tackle some of the emerging challenges faced by the global innovation community through the delivery of new programs, including identifying and attracting leading innovators to Australia, delivering skills, training and education to support future industries, developing diversity and inclusion programs, ensuring intellectual capital is directed towards solving industry’s greatest challenges, and delivering a Local Interface Pilot to connect industry to knowledge institutions at scale.
veski would like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the Victorian Government.
